Queen In Hyun’s Man Review

Queen In Hyun’s Man ended only 2 weeks ago but I have yet to get over it, like many other fans who cannot forget Kim Boong Do. When it first came out I didn’t think about it that much. Rooftop Prince was out at the same time and so I choose to watch that first. But I’ve had love for tvN and knew that their dramas have never failed me so I decided to watch it. I watched it the second week it was out and was hooked. The story line was similar to Rooftop Prince but the difference was that KBD was able to travel between times and was not stuck like YG. I know that many people compared it and said that QIHM copied RTP but that is not the case as the theme is just similar with entirely different stories. I know that some may hate me but RTP got a little repetitive as the story went on.

Okay, now on to QIHM. Could we have gotten a better drama this year!? When I watched the first scene when KBD entered and fought, I was memorized. A scholar that could fight? Just what I wanted! The drama had action, comedy, and romance the very things that I always love to watch. From start to finish I was always stuck to the screen. KBD was so charismatic. His smile always made me smile and everything he and HJ were together I was giddy like a high school girl.

The kisses, I must mention about the kisses. This is among one of the dramas where they actually kiss. When you press you lips together that’s not much of a kiss if you know what I mean. Also the number of kisses that they had through out the drama really showed that they really loved each other and wanted that intimacy when ever they were together. HJ was the one who initiated most of the time but BD started to pick it up because he really fell in love with her. Who can resist some skinship with the one you love.

What I really loved about this drama was that it didn’t always focus on the love story but also how the talisman effects him and the people around him. He was saved from death by the talisman and transported to the future. There he met a woman and learned about the past. He changed the past not because he could but because he wanted to live to prove his innocence and reinstate the queen. But through this chance of time travelling he was messing with time and death. He realizes this when he can no longer return to the future to see HJ. The letter he wrote to her was just heartbreaking. Him losing everything was the sacrifice he had to make for gaining time to live and the memories he had made with HJ. (I embbeded the scene below thanks to iRVi3T)

There also have been a lot of talk about the ending and I understand that some people didn’t like it but I think that it made sense why that happened. I think that after he burned the talisman the only thing that was holding them together was the love and memories that they had together. Yoon Wol was who called him back because she was the one who gave it to him for protection. The monk who wrote it was also was the one who gave that power. When the both of them died the talisman could no longer do anything. It was just a item that held memories. I’m a regular reader at Dramabeans and like her thoughts about it. Everyone has a different opinion.

Also in regard to JHW and YIN after the drama they are now a couple. JHW confessed at the airing of the last episode that he sincerely loved YIN which caused a scandal. After this the programs that was suppose to happen after watching the episode was canceled. It also seemed that JHW disappeared but he answered his twitter saying he was fine and that if given the same situation he would confess again to YIN. She didn’t answer him right away but after 10 days came out and said she decided to become JHWs girlfriend. She is quoted saying “Since ‘Queen In Hyun’s Man’ ended, let us start ‘Yoo In Na’s Man.’” (Thanks to Joonni for the translation). It seemed that JHW asked YIN half way through the drama to be his girlfriend but she asked him to postpone that feeling until the drama was over. I think that JHW was such a gentleman to wait for her decision. Even when she asked him for time after the confession she took longer than she has promised him but he waited for her to call. I think he genuinely loves her. JHW confessed that he never wanted anything more than YIN. He never had asked his mom what he wanted this was the first thing. Congrats to the new couple!!

The last thing I want to say is that the cause was me watching the drama and the effect was me falling in love not only with the drama but with the absolutely perfect man, Kim Boong Do.

I really like this drama as well. I watched it awhile ago but I just can’t get it out of my head.

It had enough twists to keep it from being too cliche and the main couple were adorable together 😀 A big attraction was that this drama wasn’t just a love story, but had other genres thrown in to keep the series fresh and intriguing. The actors were also did quite well in their roles, especially in some of the more dramatic scenes; the characters they played were also interesting and fun to watch and the fighting scenes were really well done ^-^

I hope that they will make a sequel. I absolutely adore the couple and it will be interesting if they write a story about their life in the modern time.

If you want to fall in love again and again, this is the series to watch. It will leave you wanting more of it. I also think that the kisses they shared in the drama were oh-so-real. Yoon In Na is very lucky to have Ji Hyun Woo. ❤

I totally agree with your review. While some people may dislike how it ended, I could totally live with it knowing that “the player” and “the most beautiful woman in the world” got the happy ending they deserved. I’ve been awake for 23 hours straight, and after finishing the series, I’m not sure I can sleep just yet. I miss the adorable couple already! 😦

i also think that the ending can be explained as the new talisman is the phone HeeJin gave KBD, and the new Joon Wol is HeeJin. he hadnt been able to came back after the 1st talisman was burned because she didnt remember him, but when she did at the end, and the phone call, meaning he can travel to the owner of the new talisman and to who loved him so much. that made perfect sense right? even though the director didnt show that well at the end.

Please please, I’m begging God, please let these 2 get married and live together for good. I don’t want this to be just another fling in their lives, I hope they truly love each other. No cheating, no excuses, nothing. Pleasee, don’t end up like lee min ho and park min young, please stay strong you 2, I support you guys all the way.

I love this drama to death. Finished watching it a couple of days ago and started bridal mask which pales in comparism. Can’t seem to get into it. I hope they get married. Great kisses…made me melt into puddles each time. She is adorable

This is the drama I compare all other dramas to. I love KBD. He was an excellent man. The eyes, the feels. My favorite drama and # 1 in my list.
